However his job being an informer was by all means risky. He had to seek police protection and had to move around from time to time. His wife had been asking him to quit. He did try to seck other forms of employment sometime in 1977. Somehow, failure to get a suitable employment with good incomes simply tuned him into the old trade again.
Since the prisoner's arrest, the family, in the absence of its breadwinner was driven into a difficult state. They however had been assisted under the Public Assistance Scheme of the Social Welfare Department; currently receiving the sum of $1524 per month as family maintenance.
(c) Home Environment
The family is residing at 1112, Wing Shui Lau, Lik Yuen. Estate, Shatin. It is a self-contained public housing unit; not too spacious but looks adequate enough for accommodation of the family. The unit is without any partition and is simply furnished; but it is bright and well-ventilated giving quite a pleasant living environment. They are now paying $305 per month as rents.

As revealed, the prisoner had been rather active in the underworld circle since he used to make a living as an informer. His 'profession' required him making association and links with underworld characters and he used to spend a lot of time with these people. However, as the prisoner pointed out, he had only maintained a superficial relationship with them. He seldom made any true friends and regarded himself somewhat an estranged person in the society.
