He gave the reason of financial tightness at that time as his motivation to join the robbery. The prisoner denied to have taken an active part in the planning of the present robbery and claimed that he was only invited to join by a leading accomplice on the very night of the present offence. Nevertheless, the prisoner expressed deep remorse for his greed and wrong doing. The life in prison had already made him feel painful and uncertain about his future, he so alleged. However, the prisoner denied to have any intention to kill the victim and said he had never thought it would end up in the loss of a life. The prisoner requested to have a chance to commute his sentence to a fair term of imprisonment and hoped he could be convicted of manslaughter instead...

SUMMARY
Starting as an illegal immigrant from Mainland China sincè 1971, the prisoner failed to resist the temptation of a complicated social environment and finally got himself involved in a robbery offence in 1973 although he had worked realistically in the first two years in manual labour jobs. After his last discharge from prison, the prisoner had been leading a regular living for 1-2 years following his marriage and his engagement in a proper employment as a lorry delivery hand. Nevertheless, he failed to stand firm and allowed himself to keep undiscriminating associates and yield himself to temptation again. As a result, he got himself into trouble with the law for the present robbery which resulted in the death of the.... deceased. As a person, he was however described to be basically hardworking and responsible, showing proper concern for his wife and his family in China, and was a helpful and pleasant character among his friends.
