to Mr. CHUNG's advice. Therefore, the Prisoner was on quite poor terms with Mr. CHUNG although Mr. CHUNG claimed to have tried his best in caring for him. Mr. CHUNG felt that the Prisoner's problems were the result of a combination of poor environmental factors which had finally caused his present misdeed. Anyway, Mr. CHUNG was ready to help the Prisoner reform as the Prisoner had expressed remorseful feelin,,s.

Madam CHAN appeared to be a mentally subnormal person who was said to have suffered brain damages caused by high fever in her childhood. She remembered that the Prisoner was a nice and gentle boy who was obedient to his family members. As she had to work since a young age, she did not have any knowledge about his activities and friends outside home.

Mr. TSE had known the Prisoner since both of them were about fourteen to fifteen years of age. At that time, the Prisoner was fond of guitar-playing. As hr. TSE was his neighbour and was playing drums,

Later, the Prisoner was introduced by Mr. TSE to a guitar instructor. Prisoner joined ir. TSE and his friends to perform at dancing parties and at night clubs. Mr. TSE recalled that the Prisoner was a music lover. Although the Prisoner might present him to be quick-tempered at times, he was observed to have no vicious habit. Also, he could concentrate in his guitar- playing which he had mastered well though he was not a highly intelligent person. About six years ago, Mr. Ta became a taxi-driver and hence had little contact with the Prisoner. In any case, Mr. TJE hoped that the death sentence on the Prisoner could be comutted.

hr. CHAN was also one of those friends of the Prisoner when the Prisoner was a guitarist. They had played at dancin ̧ parties and because Mr. CHAN was the youngest among the group, the Prisoner had taken care of him when they had open performances. Mr. CHAN was unaware of the Prisoner's triad connection and as ir. CHAN's family later moved away from Li Cheng Uk Estate, Mr. CIAN had not seen the Frisoner for over ten years but he still had a good impression of the Prisoner.
