I am writing to the Law Officers Department to tell them about the latest
developments in this case, and I am asking that the documents which
John Macgregor found in your departmental files, and which relate to
this matter, should be returned to me.
Finally, perhaps I should mention that Peter Carter-Ruck is the defendant in proceedings brought by his firm, Messrs. Oswald Hickson
Collier and Company, in which it is alleged that he has removed from the
other partners in that firm some 1500 matters which should properly be
dealt with by the partnership. Mr Blaker's action is a case which is
being retained by Mr Carter-Ruck with the agreement of his partners.
It seems that Mr Blaker is one of the 'personal' clients of Peter Carter-
Ruck, and they have no objection to him continuing to deal with this
action.
