1. I submit draft replies to 4 PQs put down by
- Mr Robert Parry MP, 3 from Mr Denis Canavan MP and
one from Mr Bob McTaggart MP, all for priority written
answer on 23 February. The drafts have been prepared
in consultation with the Hong Kong Government.
2. The information requested in Mr Parry's second question
and Mr Canavan's first and third questions is not readily
available and could only be obtained and then incompletely
by searching through thousands of individual files. This
exercise would certainly cost more than £50 per question.
I therefore recommend that the information should not be
sought on the grounds of disproportionate cost.
3. The draft answer to Mr McTaggart's question has been
cleared with the departmental Legal Adviser.
