(vi) When an application for entry
for education is approved, the visa will normally be endorsed for a stay of six months in the first instance. Subsequent extensions of six months may be approved provided the student is making satisfactory progress.

A student who has been permitted to enter for primary or secondary education will be allowed to remain in Hong Kong beyond the age of 20 years either to complete the approved course of study or if he has been admitted to one of the courses of instruction enumerated in para. 4 below.
No student who has been permitted to enter for education will be allowed to remain in Hong Kong to take up employment, except with the permission of the Director of Immigration.
Primary Education

Applications for the entry of alien children for primary education can be considered and approved subject to compliance with the following conditions :

The child must be over 6 and under 12 years of age.
A nominated relative or guardian must undertake to maintain the child during his/her stay, and, if required, to pay the cost of a return passage to country of origin.
The child will normally be expected to live with the relative or guardian, unless a place has been found for him/ her in a recognized boarding school.
