(Amendment) (No. 3) Ordinance 1982.
2. Section 18 of the principal Ordinance is amended
by deleting subsection (4)

Explanatory Memorandum
Section 18 (2) of the principal Ordinance restricts
to a period of 2 months the power of an immigration officer
to remove from Hong Kong a person who is refused permission
to land. As this was considered to be too short a period
in the case of persons previously resident in Vietnam
section 18(3) was enacted to exclude the application of section 18(2) to such persons. Section 18(4) provides
that section 18(3) is a temporary provision unless extended
by a resolution of the Legislative Council. In 1979, 1980
