The Application

1. This will normally be made on Form B but an application which is made on another form may be accepted after reference to an EO if it meets the requirements of the relevant British Nationality Regulations and contains substantially the same information as requested on Form B.

Applicants will have been asked to submit documentary evidence to support the statements made in their applications. Where no

documents have been submitted or those submitted are considered to

be insufficient, no request for documents or additional documents should be made until the officer dealing with the case is satisfied that the application can proceed. Nor should documents be requested where the information is already available from other

sources eg Home Office files.

3. The application form should be checked to ensure that all the relevant sections appear to have been correctly completed and there is sufficient information on which to conclude that the applicant meets the appropriate requirements explained in B.1 - 5 above. An applicant's satisfaction: of the residential requirements should be assessed by examining his or her passport(s) and any other evidence, such as employers' letters, in conjunction with information on his or her application and on Home Office papers.

4. Forms which are incomplete or incorrect (or both) should not be returned for completion/amendment if there are grounds for refusal or unless it is essential that this be done in order to proceed with the application.
