The reorganisation of the 'Report of the Epoch' is gratifying news to people in literary and art circles, who consider it a concrete move to criticise the 'left' elements. People who know the situation well pointed out that the publication supposedly aiming at promoting reportage had deliberately launched attacks on literary & art works for their 'bourgeois view- points on literature and art'. HUANG Gang, in
his capacity as Editor-in-Chief, had made use of the publication as a base to oppose the policies formulated by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the China Writers' Association.

The rumour that WANG Quanguo will become the Governor of Guangdong has been clarified. WANG has recently received notification from the Central Organisation Depart-
ment that he will soon be transferred to the Hubei Provincial
