UNHCR has been fortunate in that special contributions received have been adequate to meet expenditures under this programme up to the present time. Total funds available for the programme since its inception amount to US$ 3,250,350 of which US$ 2,830,334 has already been spent leaving only US$ 420,016 available. With the present rate of departures, this amount will suffice only until the end of November or early December. Consequently, funds are urgently required to cover expenditure of some US$ 350,000 for December 1981 and US$ 3,754,400 for 1982. Budgetary estimates for 1982 are attached at Annexe III. Transportation costs financed by UNHCR alone are currently at the level of some US$ 265,000 per month and in October some 1700 persons have departed from Vietnam under the programme of whom more than 500 persons will have to be financed by UNHCR. It is, therefore, extremely urgent that further contributions are received in the very near future particularly some US$ 350,000 to cover necessary expenditure up to 31 December 1981.
