Thank you for your letter of 22 June about an air services problem in which we are both interested. I am grateful to you for taking the trouble to set but the FCO position in this way.
Our next step is to get the views of our Minister (Mr Sproat), who has been out of London for much of the past week. This is not only because of the guidance we already have from him following an earlier submission, but because he is himself due to visit Hong Kong on 20 July. This visit has been planned for some time, and is to enable him to get to know more about the civil aviation and shipping industry in the territory.
2 I imagine that we will want to have further exchanges with you in due course on the matters covered by your letter, and I am grateful for your suggestion that we should keep in close touch.
