Dear Peter
5601612
Thank you so much again for sparing me the time in Manila for a brief chat. I trust you had a good visit there and to the other countries on your itinerary.
I was grateful for your advice on the matters we discussed and am pleased that Mr. and Mrs. Gu Mu will have an opportunity to visit the United Kingdom. I am sure this will be useful for the further development of stronger financial and trade ties with China.
:
With reference to the Prime Minister's visit to China later in the year, I do of course greatly hope that Mrs. Thatcher, will do us the honour of a Shanghai ship launching. I am now only concerned over dates in September as I have accepted an invitation by the President of Panama to visit there between 20 22 September. If your office could let me have some early advice as to the Prime Minister's expected schedule in China I would be most appreciative.
If there is anything I can do to help facilitate matters on Hong Kong, of course on a purely private basis, please do let me know. I would do my best to try and assist in any way possible.
Thank you again and with all good wishes, also to Iona,
y
