Delegation by Mayor LIANG Lingguang, Deputy Mayor OU Cho and LIANG Shangli
returned to Guangzhou by through train yesterday afternoon after having
concluded their visit in Hong Kong. LIANG made a written statement before
his departure.
In his statement, LIANG indicated that the delegation reached the U.S.A. on 5th of December and after signing a Friendly City Agreement with (the mayor of) Los Angeles, visited seven big cities including Washington. They were warmly received and treated with hospitality by the local government, people from all circles and overseas compatriots, leaving them an indelibly good impression. They deeply felt the request for cooperation between the peoples of CHINA and the U.S.A., the wish of
overseas Chinese to see a prosperous and strong CHINA. It is an inevitable trend that everybody is looking forward to the accomplishment of the feat of a complete unification.
He said he arrived at Hong Kong on his way back to China on 22nd December, 1981, thus taking the opportunity to conduct a friendly visit to Hong Kong and Macau. During these eight days, they rejoiced at meeting the governor of Hong Kong and the governor of Macau, having cordial and friendly talks on problems of mutual concern to Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macau. These meetings have been very meaningful to enhancing mutual understanding and strengthening the communication and cooperation amongst Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macau.
