1. At the beginning of this month the Director General of the Prison Service in the Home Office, Mr Dennis Trevelyan, telephoned me about a private holiday he was taking in South East Asia and Hong Kong. He subsequently wrote to me (letter attached).
2. I am sorry that I have not sent this to you before, but I do not think that any harm has been done. The visit does not begin until 14 November. Sir Brian Cubbon has probably already written to Hong Kong and to Singapore.
3. But there would be no harm in perhaps checking by a short telegram that Hong Kong are aware of the visit. Mr Tom Garner probably knows all about it, but the PA might wish to know as well.
4.
I am sending a copy of the letter also to Mr Burns who may wish to check that Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok know of the presence of Mr Trevelyan and what he is doing.
