(a) Of the 2 DST officers, Mr Smith said that he
did not have a great deal of job satisfaction at HMS Tamar,
but admitted that he had nonetheless asked for his period
in Hong Kong to be extended.
I arrived in Hong Kong on the afternoon of 26 October
and took the next day off to recover from jet lag.
This
gave me 2 full working days in Hong Kong, followed by a
third which included a helicopter flight along the border
between the New Territories and the Peoples Republic of
China. While my visit to Hong Kong could possibly have.
been compressed into, say, a day and a half, I would not
recommend that anyone visiting Hong Kong from the UK
as a preliminary to travelling on should spend very much
less time in Hong Kong than I did on this occasion.
