CLIMATE AND DRESS
Our posts overseas advise:-
(a) Tokyo
The weather in mid September is warm to quite hot during the day and pleasantly cool in the evening. Warm clothing is not required. It will be the height of the typhoon season, which could mean days of very strong winds and heavy rain. No black tie functions. (Dark suits).

The average temperatures in September should be about 20°c.
Shanghai

Average 24°c.
Normal British summer clothing would be appropriate in both Peking and Shanghai. No black tie functions in China.
Hong Kong
Mean temperature in September is 27°C, with mean humidity of 78%. Some rain can be expected and tropical cyclone cannot be excluded. Dress: light weight clothes. Lounge suits for lunches and receptions. Government House has a swimming pool. No black tie functions.
