POINTS TO MAKE
1.
Delighted that the UK has been able to play such a major role in the
development of the power sector in Hong Kong.
2. Very pleased that the commissioning of the first unit on the Castle Peak
A Station was achieved in record time. This is an example of the excellent
working relationship that has been established between China light and Power
and the UK companies involved. This augurs well for the future of the project.

The Castle Peak projects have provided an ideal opportunity for HMG and
UK industry to work together on this major export project.
4.
The UK's experience in coal-fired power engineering has enabled us to
offer the complete range of engineering skills necessary to build the station,
from civil consultancy through the design stage and the provision of the hard-
ware to commissioning and operating expertise.
5.
The financing arranged for the project has shown that the UK can offer
Government and commercial loans on internationally competitive terms.
