Prime Minister's Visit to the Far East: Speeches
Thank you for your letter of 30 July.
2x
I was grateful for the drafts of the three speeches for China, the major speech for Japan and the two speeches for Hong Kong. I shall not be showing these to the Prime Minister until later on. If you wish to suggest any additional material for them, I should be grateful to receive this by 3 September.
As regards the two shorter speeches for Japan, I do not think that the Prime Minister will wish to repeat material which she has used in her speech to the Press Club.
If you can find fresh material on the themes of political consultation and trade and economic matters, then these themes could be used. But if not, I hope others can be found. In any case, I should again be grateful for drafts by 3 September at the latest.
your ever
F. N. Richards, Esq.,
Foreign and Commonwealth Office
John Cole.
