a package of proposals.
Most recently, agreement was reached in 1981 on perhaps the largest
single export contract ever awarded to the UK, for the £550 million
Castle Peak 'B' Power Station. The total value of business secured
so far from this customer exceeds, £1,000,000,000.
This major
success deserves advertising through a prestigious oepning ceremony.

relationship. China Light and Power are now planning joint ventures
with the Chinese authorities in Guangdong Province, including
possibly a nuclear power station.
This was followed by further projects.

Hong Kong by the Duke and Duchess of Kent in May 1982 might be
postponed until the Autumn, so that one or both of them could be
present at the opening of the power station.
However, in view of
the invitation from Lord Kadoorie, and the Prime Minister's visit
to China, it would be more appropriate if the Prime Minister were
to perform the opening. The Duke's visit to Hong Kong is being
dealt with separately.
