on

eastern side of the existing Wenjindu Bridge. This bridge will be intended solely

for use by passenger vehicles (including coaches and private cars) and pedestrians.

Detailed arrangements will be worked out by working groups of the two sides. Before

completion of the new bridge, a limited number of private cars will be allowed to use the

existing Wenjindu Bridge beginning from the second half of 1982.

2. Another footbridge will be constructed on the western side of the Luohu (Lo Wu)

railway bridge. The financing, design and construction of this footbridge and its management

after completion will be worked out by reference to the eastern footbridge. In determining

the location and construction of inspection facilities on both sides arrangements will be

made for mutual coordination. Specific details will be discussed and decided by the working

groups of the two sides.

3. In view of the increase in the flow of vehicles and travellers at Luohu and Wenjindu,

the opening hours of these two crossing points will be extended. Specific rules will be

worked out by the working groups of the two sides.

VI. Controls at Entry and Exit Points

1. Each side will set up its own inspection facilities at each of the proposed new exit

and entry points.

2. Vehicles

crossing the Huanggang-Luomazhou Bridge, the Shahe Bridge at

Shatoujiao and the new Wenjindu Bridge, as well as vessels navigating on the Da/

Xiao Meisha-Hong Kong ferry line must have prior authorisation from the relevant

authorities on both sides. Travellers using the above crossing points must be in

possession of such documents as are required for the Guangzhou-Kowloon through

train service.
