figure largely in our bilateral relations
over coming years. Their presence together
in this University therefore symbolises the
strong and growing links between our two
countries not only in university cooperation,
but, for future cooperation in all spheres.
For these reasons, my Government attaches
much importance to international links between
universities and despite the financial
problems which unfortunately currently
affect many institutions of higher education
in Britain and throughout the world, the
British Government will continue to do
everything it can to promote these links.
