Thank you for your letter of 2 September.
As I explained to you on the telephone, I have passed the details of your visit to Hong Kong on to the Hong Kong Government. The Governor of Hong Kong, Sir Edward Youde, KCMG MBE, would be pleased to see you at Government House at 9.30 am on Saturday, 16 October, if this is convenient to you.
I enclose a copy of Hong Kong 1982 and of a background brief on Hong Kong. I would be grateful if you would keep the information in Sections 4 and 5 of the brief confidential. If you would like a more detailed briefing in the short time available before you leave for long Kong, perhaps your secretary could ring me to arrange a mutually convenient time?
I apologise for not having replied earlier to you, and hope that you enjoy your trip.
