I am now able to let you have a draft programme for the proposed visit by the HCDC to Hong Kong in July. The programme is attached.
The timing of the call on, and lunch with, HE the Governor are provisional and subject to confirmation with HE following his arrival later this month. Commander British Forces, Hong Kong, will meet the party on arrival and accompany it throughout except on Tuesday, 13 July, when he will be attending the Executive Council Meeting and DCBF will accompany the HCDC party in his stead.
Hong Kong would be pleased to know if the Committee members have any special requests for the free day on Sunday, 11 July.
One possible alteration to the programme may be that lunch on Saturday, 10 July will be taken with members of the Home Affairs Department of the Hong Kong Government instead of with 1 SG at Stanley Fort. However, the Home Affairs Department have not yet indicated that they wish to meet the Committee; perhaps you would let me know whether the Committee have any views about meeting the Department.
The programme seems to be very well balanced, particularly bearing in mind the short duration of the visit and that it includes a week-end.
Would you let me know if the Committee is content with the proposed. arrangements.
Incidentally, fifteen rooms have been provisionally booked at the Furama Hotel as accommodation is becoming booked up. Would you also let me know the Committee's final hotel requirements as soon as possible please.
