ADMINISTRATION AND MAINTENANCE OF GOVERNMENT-OWNED PROPERTY: NICOSIA (D.6)
Memorandum by the British High Commission, Nicosia
Responsibility for the care of Government-owned property in Nicosia was trans- ferred to the Property Services Agency in Cyprus from 1 April 1973, although overall financial control of properties used by the High Commission rests with the Directorate of Estate Management Overseas (DEMOS) in London.
Only major works services have to be referred to DEMOS. Maintenance and minor new works up to £500 can be approved locally.
This arrangement (which was suggested by the Sub-Committee in 1972) has proved very successful and we are grateful for the help given to us by the PSA staff concerned.
