Gurkhas

21.

Hong Kong, where the majority of Gurkha battalions are

stationed, is in many ways the Gurkha HQ. New recruits do their

initial training there. A batallion of Gurkhas, not from Hong

Kong, is currently serving in the South Atlantic. Gurkhas are

regular soldiers and an integral part of the British Army.

22. HMG have already accepted some 16,000 for resettlement,

including all quota of 10,000 agreed in 1979.
