Mr. Paul Channon, MP,

London, SW1A OAA, England.

Dean Mr. Channon.

June 23, 1982.

I am writing to you in your capacity as the Minister with special responsibilities for the Arts, as perhaps you may well be interested in the 7th Festival of Asian Arts which is to be held by the Urban Council of Hong Kong during the period, October 14-30, 1982. The Festival of Asian Arts is, I believe, the largest festival of its kind in Asia and in 1982 will have, amongst its various activities, those shown in the Annex of this letter. The Urban Council cordially invites you to attend the Festival, and should you wish to attend, would be pleased to provide you with the following:

(1)

(2)

(3) (4)

return first-class air passage (including Hong Kong Airport Tax); hotel accommodation (room only); local transport; and

a per diem allowance of HK$150 a day (approximately £14).

It is appreciated that you would be unlikely. to be able to attend the whole Festival and might I suggest you arrive in time for the opening and stay, should we say, for at least the first seven days of the Festival should your diary allow this. I enclose herewith the Programme of last year's Festival which will give you some idea of the scope and artistic level of the Festival.
