I would like to thank you for receiving us during our recent visit to Hong Kong. As I told you before we left we found the situation of British Forces to be quite satisfactory and we fully support the aim of their being there.

The

22/1/7

defence costs agreement has now ensured the maintenance of an see (8)

effective British force for the foreseeable future and the problems which we identified were of a relatively minor

nature.

I would like to thank you on behalf of the Committee for the splendid luncheon which you gave for us. We welcomed the opportunity to meet members of your administration, and some of the unofficial members of the Legislative Council.

Please give my regards to Lady Youde.

CHAIRMAN

H.E. Sir Edward Youde, KCMG, MBE,

The Governor.
