say what your organisation would like to see done. For example,
do you want more commercial staff in Indonesia and fewer staff
in Malaysia? Would you like to see a greater concentration of
effort in the Philippines or in Thailand? I lay it open for you
so you can tell us what you wish to see done.
(Mr Checketts We have not rehearsed or discussed
that matter in detail and you are raising it in some detail
there. I think what we would like to do is to be given an
opportunity of giving some thought to it in detail, when the
changes are being proposed or when the numbers of staff are being
assessed. We certainly, this morning, could not answer that
question in general.
It is
163. It would be convenient if you could let us have a
paper in on that. If you could let us have that paper some time
before the middle of October it would be helpful to us.
what your desires are about in increase or decrease in the
commercial staff at our various posts. You may not have any.
(Mr Checketts) Yes. There is a fair amount of work
involved in this if we are going to look at it in that depth.
We will reconsider what we have put in and I will not
necessarily promise any more information ta that. I would
like to see what comes out of discussions and whether what
comes out is worthy of reporting to you and if so we will put
that to you.
Chairman;
There are some problems about large projects.
Mr Mikardo
164. Do you think that the Departments and agencies of
Her Majesty's Government are sufficiently supportive in respect
of bids British companies put in for specially large projects?
