COMMONWEALTH FINANCE MINISTERS' MEETING (CFMM) BRIEFING FOR THE DUKE OF KENT
1.
The Duke of Kent will attend the reception for CFMM delegates hosted by the Chancellor at the Tower of London. He has asked the Treasury for certain briefing. They in turn have asked the FCO for notes on the countries attending the CFMM.
2.
With apologies for the short notice I should be grateful if you could provide me with a note on countries from your area by 1300 on 19 August. The notes should be short, certainly not more than half a side of double spacing. They should provide the sort of information which would be useful in conversation. It seems to me that this might usefully include when the country became independent, principal items of trade, significant links with the UK plus any other points you consider useful.
