Directives to be given to the Commercial Counsellors of Member States serving in non-member countries

Periodic meetings, annual report, ad hoc reports

1.

The Commercial Counsellors of Member States serving in non- member countries shall hold periodic meetings (if possible once every three months) to be convened by the representative of the Embassy of the Member State holding the office of President of the Council.. At these meetings, a joint examination shall be made of

the general economic situation

. specific aspects of economic and trade policy concerning relations

between the Community and the host country

and any other matter which the Commercial Counsellors may wish to raise jointly.

In countries where the Commission has an external office, a representative of that office shall take part in the joint examination of matters of Community concern.

2.

The Commercial Counsellors shall draw up joint reports on the matters referred to above for the use of the Member States and the Commission. With this in mind, the reports shall consist of:

an annual general report on the economic situation of the country concerned and economic relations between that country and the Community;

- ad hoc reports, following a request from the Commission forwarded

by the Presidency or at the initiative of the Commercial Counsellors, on matters of current interest concerning economic relations between the country concerned and the Community.
