Frincipal Civil Service Pension Scheme (PCSPS) and are also covered by the MB agreement. That means that their widows would theoretically get the best of both worlds, ie. the larger lump sums payable under the NB agreement and the better pension provisions of the PCSPS under which they would normally receive pensions and gratuities comparable to those paid to Service widows when death was attributable to service. There is, however, provision in the rules of the PCSPS to reduce widow's benefits to take account of a lump sum like those paid under the NMB agreement, and that will in practice ensure broad parity of treatment for the widows of servicemen, RFA personnel and other civil servants.
