1.
The Hong Kong Government maintain an office in London which is entirely funded from Hong Kong. It is headed by a Commissioner who has no formal status in this country. He has responsibility for:

advising on commercial and economic developments in the United Kingdom;
coordinating public relations;
generally assisting and maintaining contacts with Hong Kong people living in the United Kingdom;
providing an advisory service for students from Hong Kong;
recruiting persons resident in the United Kingdom for the Hong Kong Civil Service and the supervision and payment of allowances to officers on overseas courses in the United Kingdom;
for the Administration Development Course at Oxford University;
for administering and maintaining the Hong Kong Students Centre.
2. More generally the Commissioner keeps abreast of political developments in this country affecting Hong Kong and keeps in close contact with the FCO, MPs and other opinion formers who have an interest in the Territory.
