Purpose

To study and report on the re-assignment and re- organisation of policy responsibilities in certain Branches.

(a) to extend the Duty Lawyers' Scheme to Juvenile Courts

(b) to extend the Duty

Lawyers' Scheme to the remaining two magistracies.

To make the required arrangements

Progress Made and Present Position

:

A Working Group was set up on 28th October 1982 with a mandate to study requirements for: (i) re-assignment of policy schedules; (ii) staff; (iii) accommodation; (iv) legislative amendments and re-delegations of authority; and, (v) changes to membership of boards and committees, arising from this re-organisation exercise, and to complete its task by 1st December 1982.

(a) the proposal was approved in principle

by ExCo.

(b) submission made for financial provision

in the draft Estimates.

The visits were successfully completed during the periods of :

(a) 26-28 September; and

(b) 24 October
