To improve under- standing of the workings of the market in land.

To monitor deve- lopments in the property market and the con- struction industry.

(i) To examine the

scope for economic evaluation of trans- port policy.

(ii) To study the economics of the trucking industry.

Work continued on monitoring land statistics and land production and disposal methods, as did work on studying determinants of the price of land.

Analyses continued on: effects of domestic rent control, productivity trends in the construction industry, and trends in land and property prices.

Consultancy work on trans- port commented on.

A consultancy study on the economic role of the trucking industry as well as the economics of the industry's operation is to be commissioned with a view to assisting the Government in formulating future policies on the industry.

Studies of the land

market will be continued.

Appropriate studies in this area will be continued.

The evaluation of transport proposals will be continued as required.

Funds approved by Finance Committee. Consultants to be invited to suomit proposals as soon as possible.
