To determine to what
extent the recommendations of the gas safety consultants should be accepted and to oversee implementation of improved gas safety
measures.
To examine the need for Government to devise protective legislation
for investors.
(a) ExCo approved a
comprehensive policy for gas safety and the development of piped supplies, as recommended by the Gas Safety Committee.
(b) Gas Adviser and one
Chief Engineer appointed.

Chief Engineer and other staff being recruited.
(c) The search for a site
for the second Town- gas production plant has reached an advanced stage.
A memorandum was issued for discussion by ExCo in late October.
Gas Safety Committee to continue in existence, prepire progress reports on
gas safety improvements by the new Cas Adviser' Office and facilitate the rapid expansion of a safe piped gas supply.
The options will be considered by the Gas Safety Committee before a recommenda- tion is made tɔ LDPC and ExCo in December.
