Oil Exploration To consider the

Hong Kong as a support base.
In May 1982, the Governor in Council ordered
(a) that the proposal to develop
Penny's Bay as a support base be shelved for the time being;
(b) that the design work on the
proposed reclamation and the processing of the statutory objection in connection with the gazetting of Penny's Bay be completed nevertheless; and
(c) that the Oil Support Advisory
Committee should advise the Government on other aspects of oil exploration support as necessary and required.

The new Industrial Promotion Office in Stuttgart was formally opened on 6 October 1982, and the office in San Franciso is already functioning.
