(a) To consider

The paper has been submitted in draft to the Financial Secretary.
As regards (a)
(i)
(ii)
Macau Helicopter Airways having failed to secure designation as a Portuguese carrier, now seek designation as a UK carrier. The company has been advised, as a first step, to seek to obtain a licence from the Air Transport Licensing Authority. This process could take up to 9 months;
Macau Helicopter Airways have commissioned architects to draw up plans for the proposed heliport on the roof of Hung Hom car park. The plans will be submitted to DCA and circulated to relevant depart- ments for comment.
As regards (b)
(i)
the temporary helipad on Wanchai Reclamation will be a Government aerodrome and will be available for joint non- civilian and civilian use. The helipad will be funded as
To establish the HKG view on the timing of a replacement airport.
To ensure that Macau Helicopter Airways undertakes the necessary steps to obtain designa- tion as a UK carrier.
To ensure that the design for the heliport meets Government requirements.
To ensure that funds are made available for the temporary helipad, and that the design and operational requirements are finalised.
