Purpose

Progress Made and Fresent Position
To set up a works programme to achieve improvements to the water quality in the Nullah.
To process hawker petitions expeditiously and to review any resulting changes to hawker policy which may be required.
To eliminate pig-keeping in the Urban Area.
Stage I of the Works Frogramme ($14M, 1983-84) endorsed by PWPC. Pre- liminary work and planning in progress.

A total of 48 hawker petitions have been received since April, of which are currently being processed in the Branch. (33 of the petitions received are statutory and require to be determined by the Governor in Council; the remaining 15 are petitions to the Governor under Colonial Regulation 168.)
To effect a further revision of the licence and pitch fees listed in the Third Schedule of the Hawker (NT) Regu- lations, Cap. 132 with a view to reducing the financial deficit incurred on hawker control in the NT and pursuing Government's policy of
