Translation of the Laws of Hong Kong

To translate into Chinese the As at 1st November 1982 Laws of Hong Kong which affect the general public as recom- mended by the Chinese Lan- guage Committee in its Third Report.

36 Ordinances and Regu- lations have been translated.

To continue to translate Ordinances which affect the public at large and to arrange for their publication.

ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS

Drafting of Environmental (a) Air Pollution Control Protection Legislation

Bill

To provide for the com- prehensive control of air pollution from stationary sources; also to conso- lidate within one statute the provisions of ex- isting legislation on the subject where appropriate

(b) Noise Control Bill

To provide for the com- prehensive control of noise pollution.

Meeting between Adminis- tration and UMELCO General Services Working Group held on 9.8.82. Further queries received from Group on 7.9.82 and a comprehensive reply prepared following consultations with EPA, LD and Law Draftsman. Cleared with SHA and forwarded on .14.10.82.

Revised approach modified in the light of departmental comments and agreed with EPA.
