Squatter Control
Purpose
To prevent new building or extensions to squatter structures.
Progress Made & Present Position
Full control has been established throughout the Territory. Nevertheless 10,000 structures were demolished. during the quarter.

To review the organization with a view to improving productivity.

living conditions
in squatter areas.
(a) Improvements to safety
Firebreaks and fire mains have been installed at Lam Tin Shan and Cheung Lung Tin.
The study on Diamond Hill has also been completed but a final decision on work is pending an assessment of resumption costs.
(a) To do detailed plans for work at Shaukeiwan commencing in early 1983.
(b) Improvements to services
Installation of drainage, water supply, public bathrooms and latrines in the pilot areas at Sau Mau Ping and Ngar Choi Hang are making good progress. Work in Cheung Lung Tin has also started.
