Purpose
To terminate the issue of new land exchange entitlements for land resumed in the N.T.
Progress Made & Present Position
Memorandum submitted to ExCo on 25 May 1982. ExCo decided that the issue of land exchange entitlements should be terminated from an early date; that the Heung Yee Kuk should be so informed; and that the Regional Secretary (New Territories) and the Director of Lands should discuss with the Heung Yee Kuk the implications of winding-up the present system. A number of meetings
have since been held with the Kuk and consideration is now being given to proposals which have emerged from these meetings including amendments to the existing cash compensation scheme.
Next Quarter Targets
A further submission to ExCo making recommendations
on
(1) the timing of the
abolition of the New Territories land exchange system;
(2) new compensation rates
for land resumed in the New Territories to be introduced when the land exchange system is abolished.

Industrial Estates Corporation Ordinance (Cap. 209) Amendment

To amend the
Ordinance to enable the Hong Kong Industrial Estates Corporation :-
(1) to grant to
Government a
short term lease of part of the
Yuen Long
Industrial
Estate for
temporary housing purpose;
(2) to make part of
the estate
more important item
available for storage purposes.
Draft bill is being circulated.
Enactment of the bill.
