12. Management of
Multi-storey Buildings
To examine the problems of multi-storey buildings and explore ways of tackling them.
A Standing Committee on Multi- Storey Building Management has been set up under the chairman- ship of Regional Secretary (Hong Kong & Kowloon). Four meetings have been held during this quarter. The following
items have been considered :-
(a) Programme of Work.
(b) Objectives.
(c) Role of Mutual Aid Committees and Owners' Corporations.
(4) Control of Unauthorized
Building Work.
(e) Policies and Priorities of the Buildings Ordinance Office.
(a)
To continue examining departmental policies and priorities with a view to adopting a more cohesive and coordinated approach, involving the secondment of a Housing Manager to Yau Ma Tei District and often to co-ordinate work on building management, and law and lease enforcement of the
district will be discussed, as if agreed, started in December.
(b) To start preparation of
a memorandum for Executive
Council seeking that Government should take
a more active role in
ensuring that there are adequate building management arrangements and more
systematic lease and law enforcement in multi-storey buildings.
