Small House Working Group

To carry out a joint review of the Small House Policy with the Heung Yee Kuk, Lands

Department, and other interested departments.

A start has been made in selecting a few villages to implement village layouts on an experimental basis.

The next Working Party meeting will be held on 10.11.82 to review progress and consider other matters of interest to the working party.

*Security

arrangements for major festivals and

events.

To co-ordinate government action during major festivals to ensure that adequate precautions and security arrangements are made.

The Governor's Security Committee considered and endorsed the recommendations of the inter- departmental working group chaired by Regional Secretary

(Hong Kong & Kowloon), involving a policy for containment in Central, and by spreading the holiday crowds to other areas.

To carry out the action plans agreed for Christmas, New Year's Eve and Chinese New Year's Eve.

Sha Tau Kok Redevelopment

To agree on a redevelopment strategy for Sha Tau Kok.

The revised layout plan was circulated on 9.8.82 and was considered by the Development Progress Committee on 14.10.82. The Public Works Priority Committee has approved the upgrading of the PWP item to Category AB to allow for the appointment of consultants to carry out a feasibility study and the necessary site investi- gation with a view to recommending a comprehensive development scheme, having regard to the implication of the proposed road

(a) To further revise the

layout plan in the light of the comments made by the Development Progress Committee on 14.10.82.

(b) To upgrade the relevant Public Works item to Category A.

(c) To appoint consultants to carry out the feasibility study and the necessary site investigation.
