To coordinate departmental action to maintain progress and momentum in the development of agreed cross border links with China and in the regulation of the Shum Chun River.
These are two of four working groups under the main Hong Kong China Economic Committee.

(a) After exchanging the relevant survey details, the second meeting of the Joint Experts Working Group was held on 10.9.82. Subsequently, a Joint Technical Group was set up on 28.9.82 to consider the design specifi- cations and related issues.
(b) The Pollution Control Sub-
Group met on 7.10.82 and discussed short and long- term measures to reduce pollution in the Shum Chun River. It was agreed that there should be a joint pollution monitoring
programme.
Further meetings of the Joint Technical Group will be held with a view to drawing up design specifications for all three crossings viz. Lok Ma Chau, Man Kam To and Sha Tau Kok.
To exchange and discuss proposed monitoring programmes with
a view to agree on a joint programme of work.
