Purpose
To eview the existing legislation relating to dispensing, the employment of pharmacists, and the necd for training facilities,
To amend the existing legislation
(a) relating to qualifications
for registration, fees, etc; and
(b) to revise the various
fees.
To monitor construction of the Prince of Wales Hospital which will provide clinical training for the Second Medical School at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).
Progress made and present position
On 30 September the ecutive Council edvised that the recommendations of the Working Party Report should be accepted in principle subject to further consultation with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board over proposed legislativo amendments and with the University & Polytechnic Grants Committee and the Vocational Training Council on training. The proposal to require doctors to display a statutory notice informing patients of their right of choice over the filling of prescriptions would be examined by the Medical Council and a further report be made to Lxecutive Council.
The Medical Practitioners (Registration & Disciplinary Procedure) (Amendment) Regulations 1982 were made by the Governor in Council on 31 October. Meanwhile, the Medical Council's advice on registrable qualifications was being sought with a view to preparing a further bill for submission to the Executive Council.
The contractor has agreed that those areas required for the Royal Opening will be ready by 1 November 1982. The contractual completion date has been set at 31 December 1982 after which liquidated damage will apply. However, present assessment is that the project is likely to be delayed because of complicated contractual claims.
