18. Implementation
of the proposal
of the 1981
White Faper on
Training for pre-primary teachers
To ensure the implementation of the proposal to set up a training institute for kindergarten teachers and child care staff.
The Working Group established to set up the training institute has met four times and is preparing proposals for the courses to be provided in this institute together with the necessary transitional arrangements to move from the existing courses to those provided in the new institute.
Develop proposals further and submit recommendationss to D of E.
19. Review of School
Textbooks Assistance Scheme
To examine the existing arrangements for financial assistance with the purchasing of textbooks.
The scheme to provide a textbook and stationery grant of $135 per pupil per year in primary and $325 in secondary schools has been publicly announced and introduced for the 1982-83 school year.
Action completed.
20. Grant and
Subsidized Schools Provident Funds
To improve the benefits under the Grant and Subsidized Schools Provident Funds for Aided Teachers.
The amendment rules have been implemented since July 1982 and payments have been made at the revised rate.
Action completed.
21. Steering Group
to evaluate a pilot study of noise abatement measures in schools
To evaluate the pilot study and to recommend noise abatement measures in schools.
The pilot study has been completed and compilation of the draft Report is now in hand.
To finalise and submit the Report to the Special Committee on Noise of
EPCOM.
