Progress Made & Present Position
(b) N.W. New Territories
(i) LDPC considered consultants' final report on the NWNT development study and accepted the principles of a base strategy to bring order and control to existing development trends. The consultants also recommended a strategy for major growth which will be taken as an input to LUTO (item 2 above).
(ii) A short study was undertaken
to find a runway and flight path configuration for a possible Deep Bay airport which would minimise steri- lisation of development in the NWNT.
(iii) Negotiations with the Tin
Shui Wai developers continued.
Next Quarter Targets
(b) N.W. New Territories
(i) Consultants to
continue with detailed work on the Base Strategy (completion March 1983).
(ii) Subject to
direction being given, appoint consultants for an extension to the NWNT study to take into account the possibility of an airport at Deep Bay.
(iii) Reach agree-
ment with Tin Shui Wai developers.
