1. Land Production
Programme (LW(SPU)70/64/01)
Purpose
To provide up-to-date information on the present and future avail- ability of land for all purposes in a land production programme.
Progress Made & Present Position
The Special Committee on Land Supply met on 18.1.82 tc consider papers on land requirements for industry and housing. Working groups were formed to review assumptions used in deriving land sales targets.
Next Quarter Targets
SCLS to meet in March 1982 to again examine industrial and resi- dential land require- ments and a draft of the 1982 Report to the Governor.
Working Group on
Private Sector Parti- cipation in Land Production to report. to CS by 28.2.82.
2. Development Strategy (LW(SPU)70/62/01)
To prepare a strategy for development of new areas having regard to :
(a) the development potential
of these areas;
(b) Government's policy objectives; and
(c) resource constraints
Following LDPC's agreement to the creation of a land use/transporta- tion optimisation (LUTO) model for the purpose of testing a large number of population distribution options in brcad economic terms relative to land development and transportation implications, a special LUTO team has been formed and meetings held with consultants interested in participating in development of a methodology.
An interim statement on develop- ment strategy has been drafted for LDPC.
LUTO team to continue discussions with consultants.
LDPC to consider an Interim Statement on Development Strategy.
