Purpose
To determine the lead times for and impli- cations of land acquisition in connection with the proposed replacement airport and to draw up a land acquisition programme compatible with various project activities.

Progress Made & Present Position
The Working Group was set up upon the recommendation of the Replacement Airport Coordinating Committee (RACC) and the Steering Group on North Lantau Development Investiga- tions (NLDISG). Its report was submitted to RACC on 5th March. With a covering paper and bar charts showing various scenarios according to when action on land acquisition/ prequalification/tendering starts, the Report was considered by Technical Working Group of NLDISG on 2nd April. One bar chart was chosen as the programme on which the interim report of NLDISG to LDPC, currently under preparation, would be based.
The redevelopment proposal, to provide resettlement housing and essential community facilities for the present population, was endorsed by Governor's Security Committee and PAGENT subject to further security considerations. Meetings have been held to sort out problems and responsibilities. Consultants will be employed to do the major works. The draft layout plan is now being circulated for comments,
