Four pilot areas have been selected to test options and assess costs.
Coordination is being provided through an Inter-Departmental Working Group. It is intended to submit, comprehensive proposals for future Government action in the autumn.

available for planned development programmes.
A total of 44 development clearances were completed during the quarter. Some 8,228 persons were rehoused in permanent housing and 5,452 persons in temporary or primary housing.
73 development clearances are scheduled for this quarter (37 in the urban area, 36 in the NT).

Areas
To rehouse those made homeless by fires and natural disasters in squatter
areas.
18 fires and 2 landslips made a total of some 1,200 persons homeless. Those eligible for urban rehousing have been or are being rehoused, while those eligible for temporary housing in the NT will be rehoused as soon as additional space is available.
To rehouse in temporary housing areas as many as possible of the present outstanding commitment.
